From Erik Severson’s Newsletter:
On October 17th, I voted in favor of Special Session Senate Bill 1, legislation that will bring approximately $400 thousand in property tax relief to the 28th Assembly District and $100 million in property tax relief state-wide.
Due to smart fiscal decisions made this session and last, property taxes continue to decrease for the citizens of Wisconsin. I have always believed that budget surpluses should be returned to the taxpayers, which is exactly what Special Session Senate Bill 1 accomplishes.
Governor Walker called a Special Session of the Legislature on providing property-tax relief by increasing state aid to school districts, with limits on district expenditures. After this bill is signed into law, taxpayers will enjoy a total of $1.5 billion in tax relief during the past three years.
After a 27% increase in property taxes during the past decade, Wisconsin property owners deserve a break. I am proud to cast my vote in favor of a continued effort to decrease property taxes for hard-working Wisconsin families.
