The Polk County Republican Party asked individuals who stopped by our booth at the Polk County Fair to take a straw poll, to see which Republican candidate they would like to see as the Republican nominee.

They were told to, “write down your top three choices for potential 2016 Republican nominees.”

poll

Of the 17 choices available, there was a wide variety of answers.  Tabulating all the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place votes together, Scott Walker received 24.4% of the totaled votes.  Doesn’t sound that great, but if you separate the results individually, things look better.

When looking at just the first place votes, excluding the 2nd and 3rd place votes, Walker was the clear winner.  In fact, 40% of the first place votes went to Governor Walker, 13% to Jeb Bush, 11% to Donald Trump and Rand Paul, and 10% to Ben Carson.

When you’re looking at a poll, you have to be aware that numbers can be manipulated!  Depending on several external factors and internal tabulations, the numbers can be tabulated differently for skewed results.  Many polls are unscientific and manipulated to support someone’s agenda.  Always look for the actual numbers.  If they aren’t provided, take it with a grain of salt.
